Digital Literacy
Closing the Digital Divide
Our digital literacy programs are designed to engage technology to improve the quality of life for individuals and their families. This includes developing job skills, finding employment, engaging local government or starting a business.
Financial Literacy
Building Wealth Generationally
We have partnered with the NLC’s BankOn, the FDIC’s Money Smart curriculum, and ProsperityNow IDA Program for first time home buyers. We also provide a credit repair counselor and course.

Digital Workforce Development
The development of human capital in a digital age is a part of every Umoja Group project. The development of technical skills from our digital literacy programs; the introduction of online and mobile banking from our financial literacy training; and, the creation of virtual communities and economies of scale within our Urban Tech Centers.

Programs
These are a few of our most recent programs. For the past 21 years, we have conducted programs involving Black men of every age, interest and need.
Conversation Among Brothers
A Conversation Among Brothers was created so that black men can voice the challenges and obstacles that confront them on a daily basis.
Digital Literacy
We are building Urban Technology Center partnerships with faith and community based organizations to provide space for digital literacy training, developing digital human capital, employment and business opportunities.
Healthy Men Project
The Umoja group has partnered with the University of Maryland Healthy Men Project in the past and plans to develop a similar program in Los Angeles with UCLA. The common goal is to help black men lower their blood pressure by participating in activities to engage them in a more healthy lifestyle process.
Umoja Scholars
In addition to the Academic Achievement Academy tutoring and a registry of college students to tutor and guide our Umoja Scholars, we’ve added annual tours to HBCU campuses, summer activities and curriculums
Urban Tech Centers
Our goal is to create an alliance with several churches and community based organizations to build Urban Technology Centers. Our objective is to transform individuals into digital human capital to provide liveable wages for their families.
Financial Empowerment
We can not have a conversation about social injustices without discussing those injustices legislators allow financial institutions to impose on impoverished communities.
